Yesterday I stacked them up into planned flower sets.
Then I filled my hexie project bag with all those sets. Now I can easily grab a single flower and get stitching. Someday, I will have a quilt top.
I've been meaning to show this quilt but the timing for photo taking wasn't good. We had snow and then a thaw, then rain and it would have meant this quilt would be dragging in the dirt. So, indoors it had to be.

read moreHi! I thought that I would give you a quick update on my hexies since that's what I've been doing a lot of these days. It's perfect for mindful stitching because there are very few decisions to make. I love all of the slow stitching involved.
While I was away with my girlfriend at my brother's cottage, I had time to play with more hexies. Here are some images of what it looked like at the beginning of November.

I've been meaning to take photos of a few finished quilts ..... but life keeps getting in the way.
This was a sweet and easy quilt to make and it went together very quickly. A perfect quilt for donation.
Are these pyramids or trees? My hubby says 'trees'. Anyway, the top is currently at the LAer and I will get it back in a few weeks. I can't say this was a fun EPP project to do as it did give me some issues that I was able to overcome. So glad this one is done and I can move onto something else.
My churn dash quilt is back from the LAer. This has been added to the pile of quilts to bind next year.We got a lovely surprise when we walked in to the Festival of Quilts and saw mum's Lucy Boston quilt had a ribbon it!
I was so pleased for mum because it really is a beautiful quilt and deserved something I thought.
We met lots of friends at the quilt show, and made some new friends too. Everyone was so nice, and I felt very relaxed because I wasn't involved in organising it.
We even went to the prize giving on Saturday evening and mum received a monetary prize for her efforts. We weren't expecting that!
I finished the binding on my EPP diamond quilt. And I can call it finished. It has been a few months since I have had a finish. Meanwhile, I haven't stopped sewing, and, the tops are still piling up in the closet. I need to move a long.
This was my very first English Paper Piecing. I started ( 2009) with this quilt I needed a hand project for an airplane trip to Utah to see my daughter. I was sure I didn't want to do hexagons ( what did I know?) And this seemed simple enough to be a ...

Cottage season is winding down and my sister and I are trying to get as much done outside and inside while weather permits. Our Canadian Thanksgiving is in a few weeks time and that is when we close down the cottage for the season.
The squirrel saga continues. The cedar seeds have dried up and are now brown in colour. We keep checking each time we go out to the cottage to see if the squirrel has stored away these seeds. Come on, squirrel ...
read moreWhile I have been documenting all the quilts I've made since I began quilting (1994), I have realized that some of those that I consider my biggest and best have never had a post of their own. There have been progress shots along the way, but nothing about the finished quilt.
In the next few days or weeks, I will be posting a few of them as I write up the post for the Quilt Diary blog. I begin with Grand Prismatic, a quilt finished in 2021.

read moreI was able to trim and add borders to my English paper piecing project at open sew, except the upper left hand corner that was not complete with the diamond EPP shapes. I was technically missing 3. I would have to add them at home. sigh..... I have tried to make this a goal for 3 months, now. I think not knowing how I wanted to finish it was the reason it stalled.- getting closer

"Christmas Stars"
A close-up of the quilting design.Hi! It would seem that hexies are back into my life. They are very meditative to prepare and to stitch together (i.e. relatively mindless but enjoyable for a short time).
July's colour for the 2022 Table Scraps challenge is purple and the theme is circles, spots and dots. Until last year I had very few fabrics with spots but because of a wonderful gift of scraps, I now have tons.
